Two probes were announced today. A NASA spacecraft, the Parker Solar Probe, will fly into the sun next year. And Québec Premier Philippe Couillard has put the word out that he would like to open a friendly discussion of the Constitution with Canadians. Although the NASA probe will have to survive temperatures of 1,371 degrees Celsius, it is likely that Couillard's will be the first to flame out. No prime minister bearing the name Trudeau is going to be drawn into a conversation about asymmetrical federalism. Nor is there any evidence that Canadians would wish him to do so.
