Crisis, What Crisis?

More history, less hysteria

Nuclear Disaster Porn

Maclean's has published a 2600-word feature called "What Would Nuclear War with North Korea Look Like?"  The premise is that the "macho posturing" of Donald Trump and Kim Jong-Un could culminate in the unthinkable.  Though Maclean's states that the scenario is "highly unlikely," it describes a bungled North Korean warning strike on Guam escalating into an ICBM launch at Trump Tower in Manhattan (you read that correctly).  Lengthy sections on "damage" and "fallout" are pure Day After disaster porn: NYC is incinerated, "tens of millions of people die."  If you are reading this, Peter (C. Newman), please know that Canadians miss your sober stewardship of our "national news magazine."
